Baggage Regulations for Rifle cases on Airlines in South Africa.

 

Sporting and Hunting weapons and Ammunition have to be declared and will be handled as sporting equipment and charged, when packed in a special luggage for weapons. Sporting Arms will be considered as excess baggage and will be charged a flat fee, payable only at the airport, regardless of the flights and the destination. Each sporting arms container is considered one piece. 

 

Domestic

 

SAA: - 20 kg for baggage + 20 kg additional for Rifle cases and Ammo cases. Rifle and Ammo cases both includes the 20 kg.

         - 5 kg allowed for ammunition cases

 

BA, SA Air link and  SA Express: - 20 kg Rest is excess baggage

 

George (West Cape) - No Firearms

Mango Airlines - No Firearms

No SAA flights from Durban to Cape Town only Mango and No Firearms

1 Time Airlines - No Firearms

 

International

 

Air France and KLM: - 23 kg Europe - 1pc - extra pieces  €55

Air France and KLM: - 23 kg USA & Canada - 2pc - extra pieces $200

 

Other Airlines: - 1pc €75,  (for America, Nigeria and Israel the fee will be $75 regardless of the flight destination.)

 

Swiss (LX):                         Charges are valid on all LX Flights and apply per through flight

                                              Applicable for weight and piece concept only charge if exceeding free baggage allowance

                                              Charged per container not per weapon.

Lufthansa (LH):                 Additional handling fee for weapons will always be charge locally at departures in:

                                              JHB - €50 

                                              Italy - €60

                                              Turkey - €30

 

British Airways (BA):  - Please check info when you fly via London
